Schooled Away is a boutique school located in the centre of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We provide individualized education for traveling families to ensure your kids remain on track and up to date with their school work while you explore the world together.

Our passion lies in guiding kids on their world journeys to become confident, self-directed learners. Traveling the world is exciting and schooling should be the same. Our highly experienced teachers are accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers and have a long history working with all types of learners. Our lessons are delivered in fun, innovative ways that are relevant and meaningful to our students. We model a positive learning environment by ensuring every voice is heard and that our students feel comfortable sharing, asking questions and trying new things.

The Schooled Away Method

We take an individualized approach to each student we work with. We begin by conferencing with your child’s existing teachers, then obtain unit plans, IEPs, reading levels and curriculum goals. Next, we develop lesson plans to mirror the specific content being delivered back home while you’re off exploring the world together, ensuring your kids don’t miss a beat.

How it works:

  1. Let us know you’re coming

  2. We set up a video conference with you to identify your needs;

  3. We conference with your child’s teachers to obtain IEPs, reading and math levels, curriculum goals and unit outlines being covered while you are away;

  4. We develop and deliver individualized lesson plans mirroring the specific content being delivered back home for the duration of your adventure and then create a comprehensive report for your child’s teacher, ensuring a seamless reintegration;

  5. You get to make incredible memories and explore the world together, stress and worry free.
